FAQ 32: What Is The Alexandrian Cult?

You might not have ever heard this term before of the Alexandrian versus the “Antiochian” line of Bibles, but basically you have two different representations of a greek text. You have one that comes from Antioch, the Textus Receptus that was used by the translators of the King James Bible. Then you have the Alexandrian text put out by the Vatican, made under the supervision of the Vatican. I’ve shared that in other studies that the Textus Receptus comes from Syria, the Alexandrian comes from Egypt. So you have a Syrian text and you have an Egyptian text. The Alexandrian one underlies the new versions like the ESV the NASB and the NIV. You know, that junk and all of the Catholic Bibles.
