is Peter the rock or Satan? Let’s look in Matthew 16:16-18 so we can see what I’m talking about. Now the typical Catholic interpretation is that Peter is the rock upon which the church is built. I’ve already disproved that in my study on Peter being the world’s or history’s worst Pope.

Peter was not the rock, Jesus Christ was the rock. But let’s think about this for a minute. Let’s go with the Catholic interpretation just for a minute. Peter is the rock of the church, okay? Jesus just gave a special authority to Peter that he would become the first pope; he is the foundation the first and the succession of a long line of popes that go on out into the future. What dies Jesus say to the “first pope” in verse 23?
